Stephenson to lead CCMS

Dr. Stephenson

Carrollton, Ky. - June 6, 2022 - At a special-called June 3 meeting, the Carroll County Middle School Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council selected Dr. Robin Stephenson as the next principal of Carroll County Middle School. Stephenson recently served as district technology coordinator for the Carroll County School District. Before that, she served as the assistant principal of Cartmell Elementary.

“We are very thankful to have Dr. Stephenson step into this new role,” said incoming Superintendent Casey Jaynes. “Her combination of instructional, leadership and technology skills will be an asset to the middle school and to our school district. The middle school years are a crucial time for children, and having someone with Dr. Stephenson’s compassion and work ethic serving as middle school principal is incredible.”

Stephenson has served the district in numerous roles since 2004, when she began her public school teaching career at Cartmell Elementary. She later served as an art teacher at the school before moving to the assistant principal position at Kathryn Winn Primary in 2018 and then to the assistant principal position at Cartmell Elementary in 2019. She has served as district technology coordinator since the spring of 2021.

“I have always wanted to serve as a school principal, and I can’t wait to get started at CCMS,” Stephenson said. “Children are my passion, and I am looking forward to working with the middle school staff to make our school the best it can be. We have so many assets in this district, from wonderful people to amazing technology. It is an honor to have been chosen to lead CCMS, and I thank the SBDM Council and the community for allowing me to serve.”

A graduate of Carroll County High School, Stephenson holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Hanover College (1996), two master’s degrees from Walden University (reading and literacy (2004) and reading and mathematics (2007)). Additionally, she has earned a principal certification (2018) and a supervisor of instruction certification (2019) from University of the Cumberlands. Stephenson completed a doctorate in educational leadership from Cumberlands in the spring of 2022.

“I am excited about the coming school year, and I know Dr. Stephenson will help provide a great environment for students to learn and grow,” Jaynes said.

Stephenson’s duties as CCMS principal begin July 1.
